The Aurora Reimagined Coalition brings together neighbors, the business community, and public agencies to create transformative change along the Aurora Avenue corridor.
VISION
We envision an Aurora Avenue corridor, from the Tunnel North Entrance to the border at 145th Street, that:
Puts people first with an equitable design for all people walking, rolling, biking, riding transit, and driving;
Supports thriving businesses;
Fosters diverse communities; and
Mitigates the impacts of climate change and reduces the urban heat island effect, ensuring more people can live and work along the corridor and travel safely to destinations beyond.
VALUES
As we advocate for improving Aurora, we are guided by:
Transportation safety and accessibility for all
Community stabilization and residential, commercial, and cultural anti-displacement policies
Climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies
WE ARE ON DUWAMISH LAND
The entirety of Aurora Ave N is located on the unceded ancestral lands of the Duwamish Tribe. Long before it was paved and designated as State Route 99, before it was the muddy wagon trail called the North Trunk Road, the Duwamish peoples traveled through the area on what would become Aurora Ave N. While it looks very different today, this north-south transportation route is still with us and is an incredibly valuable part of our city and region. Similarly, the Duwamish Tribe also still exists and is active today and remains an incredibly valuable part of our city and region.
The Aurora Reimagined Coalition respects the long history of the land that Aurora rests on and the people who have inhabited this land for uncountable generations. We value the input of the indigenous communities that continue to impact and be impacted by Aurora.
The Aurora Reimagined Coalition is an all-volunteer grassroots organization, formed in 2021 and composed of community groups, individuals, and businesses representing the Aurora Avenue corridor.
