Community Visioning Workshop

There are so many ways we could change Aurora. On July 21 a group of community members came together to discuss what they think the future of Aurora should look like. Watch the full recording of the virtual visioning workshop to hear what they think about reimagining Aurora and their ideas on what the corridor could look like in the future. After breaking into small groups, workshop participants discussed what they would add or remove from the roadway, and put those ideas “down on paper” using a digital tool called Streetmix. Here’s what they came up with:

Safer for walking and biking

This group prioritized space to walk, patronize business, and bike, and wanted improved lighting for the pedestrian experience.

A green transit corridor

This group focused on increased housing development, wayfinding, and using the sidewalks for many different purposes - all without taking away car or bus travel lanes.

Aurora 2-Way

This group removed a car travel lane in each direction, improved the rapid transit facilities, widened sidewalks, and placed trees in the median.
